Hunger Games Movie Inaccuracy

Okay, so the Hunger Games movie is terrible in comparison to the book. There are some major things that are not portrayed like Peeta's amputation of his leg. This becomes a reoccurring problem throughout the next books. It is important when he is trying to hunt with Katniss in the first book and is the reason for one of the cute scenes where Katniss hugs him and he falls over in front of the cameras at the start of the Victory Tour. It also helps in the symbolism of him being the more mature and adult like figure in the novels. His slight hobble makes him seem like a wizened war veteran.
The movie also fails to show the true hunger in the books... They start out okayish with district 12 but they do not show skinny and underfed kids after that. The actual Games they never go hungry and another key scene is left out. When at the beginning of the games and Katniss is almost dying of thirst and she crawls to a stream after almost giving up. That is very important because is shows the brutality of the games.
Another thing wrong with the movie is Josh Hutcherson. Now i absolutely adore him but he is not buff enough to play the part. He is shorter than Katniss if you watch closely and he just is not big enough.
Katniss's hearing loss is also not included in the movie. There is a short time span where you hear a high pitched noise but this is not that descriptive. The hearing loss is supposed to go on until the end of the movie.
Also, at the end of the book, Katniss does not kill Cato with her arrow for another 12 or so hours after the Mutts are ripping him up. In the movie she kills him immediately. This does not show how brutal Katniss is throughout the series.
At the end of the book when Katniss and Peeta are on top of the Cornucopia, Peeta is dying and his leg is supposed to be bleeding out. This does not happen in the movie and it is critically wrong to leave this part out because it shows the viciousness of the games.
Although some people might say that the Hunger Games movie is great it still does not have all the elements that the book has that made the book worth reading like everything stated above and the social and economical conflicts between the Capitol and the Districts. All in all, the movie was not that well made and did not even get close to the books. If you disagree or have anything to say add a comment or email me at djinpa14@gmail.com.
